London Frontrunners Club Rules

Club Rules adopted May 1997

  1. The name of the Club is London FrontRunners.
  2. The object of the Club is to encourage and promote running among lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgenders regardless of race, religion, sex, age or physical ability. In pursuit of this object the club will promote equal opportunities.
  3. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in running who supports the objects of the Club on payment of the annual subscription fee.
  4. The management of the Club will be by committee consisting of two joint presidents (one male, one female), secretary, treasurer and such other officers as the membership may decide to appoint at the Annual Meeting. The committee members will be elected by a majority of the membership at the Annual Meeting, subject to a quorum of 20% of the current paid-up membership.. An election officer will be selected jointly by the two presidents, whose sole responsibility will be to oversee the election process at the AGM. Committee members shall serve a term of one year. The Annual Meeting will take place on the second Saturday in May or as soon thereafter as the committee can arrange it. Notification of the meeting shall be of at least fourteen days and may be by email or by post. A Special General Meeting shall be called by the Committee either of its own initiative or on receipt of a written request from 20% of the paid-up members. Notification and voting rules at the Special General Meetings are as at Annual General Meetings.
  5. The Committee shall meet at times and places agreed by its members to discuss the business of the Club. There will be a quorum of three. The Secretary will have a casting vote. No proxy voting will be allowed. Committee posts falling vacant during the course of the year may be filled by election by a majority of the existing committee members.
  6. The Committee shall have the power to expel any member whose subscription is twelve months in arrears provided one month's notice in writing shall have been sent to such member by registered or recorded letter addressed to his/her last known address, informing him/her of the proposed action of the Committee.
  7. The name and address of any person so expelled from the Club in the Southern district shall be sent to the South of England AA who shall enter his/her name in a book (to be called "The Suspension Book") to be kept for that purpose. Every person whose name has been so entered shall be suspended from competing at any meeting held under the Federal Rules until the liability causing his/her said expulsion, which shall not exceed one year's subscription shall have been discharged. No member whose subscription is in arrears is eligible to take part in any competition promoted by the Club.
  8. These rules may be altered by majority vote at a Special General Meeting or Annual General Meeting, provided that the membership have received at least twenty one days' notice of the proposed amendment.
  9. Any club expenditure over £25 requires the consent of one President, not including the person making the expenditure. Any club expenditure over £100 requires committee approval of at least 1 President and 2 other committee members. Cheques drawn on the Club account may be signed by the Treasurer or either President. New signature cards, which are the responsibility of the Treasurer, must be completed within 1 month of the AGM if required.
